  • Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

    The Letter Carriers’ Union and the UFCW partner for the biggest single-day food drive in the country, Stamp Out Hunger. Here’s how it works:

    1. Fill a paper or plastic bag with canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned soup, pasta/pasta sauce, or cereal. These are the kinds of healthy non-perishable items hungry families need.
    2. On May 9, put your bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox for your letter carrier. Be sure to leave it out with plenty of time before normal mail delivery to be sure your letter carrier sees it!

    Not all postal routes are serviced by the Letter Carriers’ Union. The Stamp Out Hunger food drive covers parts of Zanesville, Columbus, Toledo, Lima, Mansfield, Portsmouth, Marion, Newark, Lancaster, and Jackson.

  • Race for the Cure

    UFCW Local 1059 is committed to a world without cancer. Members can support the important work of Susan G. Komen by participating in the Columbus Race for the Cure 5K run/walk.

    UFCW Local 1059 will cover registration costs for members wishing to participate in the event and 50% of registration costs for family members joining you for the event. IN ORDER TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS REGISTRATION DISCOUNT, REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN TO UFCW LOCAL 1059 BY APRIL 6, 2026. Registration forms submitted directly to Susan G. Komen will not receive the UFCW 1059 discount.

    After registration, we’ll be in contact with you in the days leading up to the event with information about our team photo that morning and your Race for the Cure t-shirt.

    The Columbus Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the morning of Saturday, May 16, 2026.

    Entry is limited to the first 34 foursomes. All foursomes must have at least 2 Local 1059 members. Golfers must arrive by 7:30 am. There will be an 8:00 am shotgun start. The Golf Outing will be a scramble format.

    Cost is $50/person. Submit UnionWize form with payment or call 614.237.7671 to register.

    Proceeds support the UFCW Local 1059 Foundation.

  • UFCW Charity Foundation Scholarship Deadline

    Each year, the UFCW Charity Foundation awards several scholarships of up to $12,000 each to UFCW members or their unmarried dependents under the age of 20. Applicants must have been active since January 1, 2025. Applicants must be members or a members’ unmarried dependent under the age of 20. Apply online.
