UFCW Local 1059 awards a $1,500 college scholarship in memory of former-Union Representative Ray Collier.
Members in good standing are eligible to apply subject to the following provisions.
Scholarship Eligibility
Applicants must submit the following information to the email address scholarship[at]ufcw1059[dot]com:
- Full name
- Worksite (employer and store number, if applicable)
- Cell phone number (or best contact number)
- Address
- Biography of approximately 250 words — including union experience and education plan (this information will be used in an event program for the MLK Day Brunch in January)
The winner must present proof of admission to an accredited university, college, or trade program to receive the scholarship (this can include tuition billing, letter of acceptance, etc.). Winner will be presented with the scholarship at the MLK Day Brunch in January (date TBD and will be communicated to the winner so they can make arrangements to attend).
About Ray Collier
Ray Collier was a Union Representative at UFCW Local 1059. He was a tireless advocate for our members, and he was devoted to the mission of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. This $1,500 scholarship was established in his memory.
