Ray Coller Memorial Scholarship Deadline

Union members wishing to apply for this $1,500 scholarship good an accredited university or trade program should provide the following information in an email to scholarship[at]ufcw1059.com:

  • Full Name
  • Worksite (if you work in a store, ex: Kroger 543, CVS 1756, etc.)
  • Cell phone number
  • Address
  • Biography of approximately 250 words

The winner must attend the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists MLK Day Brunch in January 2020 to receive scholarship. Proof of tuition billing will be necessary to get scholarship.

    Current and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations) are eligible. At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31, 2026. Scholarship amounts range from $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the Fall of 2026. Students may re-apply each year.

  • 2026-04-03 All day

    UFCW Local 1059 has sixteen $1,500 scholarships and five $400 "Textbook" scholarships awarded to randomly selected applicants each year. Scholarship winners can be Local 1059 members or children of members. Visit www.ufcw1059.org/scholarship for full rules and application instructions.

    Ray Collier was a UFCW Local 1059 Union Representative devoted the membership and his work with the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU). In his memory, UFCW Local 1059 has established a $1,500 scholarship to one Local 1059 member each year who embodies Ray's commitment to making this world better.
